I’d say go for class 10 or class 6 SD cards upto 32GB. There have been issues with people using SDXC cards with higher storage (like with 128 GB storage but 64 GB may work).
Says:I recently tried a new 4GB SD card in my D80. As I shot, I could view images on the LCD. However when I attempted to download them all I got were error messages. I tried a card recovery program and was able to save all of the images but not with their original file numbers. The manual only refers to 1 and 2GB cards. Perhaps this was a bad card? I'd appreciate any thoughts on this matter.1:18PM, 31 May 2013 PDTsays:clock doc:The manual refers to 1 and 2 gig cards simply because they were the largest commonly available sizes when the D80 was available from new. There is no technical restriction on the size of card you can use.
I suspect a bad card here. You might consider;1) Good quality ' mainstream manufacturer' cards - I prefer Sandisk2) Format your cards in the camera before you use them, including from new.3) Once you have downloaded, use the same formatting option in the camera to wipe / delete everything from the cards - don't let your computer do this as it will not necessarily clear everything and over a period of time you can finish up with a corrupted card.77 months agosquare note deleted says:I've filled up 8 and 16 gig cards while shooting with no problems. I dropped in a 64 gig card I have and it prompts me to format it (already formatted for a 7100), after formatting the camera says the card is FULL in the display. Subsequent formats do nothing to change that so 64 gig is out. I do not have a 32 gig card to try.All cards were Sandisk.Originally posted 77 months ago.square note edited this topic 77 months ago.square note deleted says:carl-dania:As carl-dania says, I also format in camera after downloading images to PC, I do not delete or format with the PC. I also always 'eject' the card from the computer.
I use 1 GB's because they hold 135 images in RAW form (actually a tad more when it's filled up) and I like to have multiple cards on hand in case one fries out on me. I would rather lose a smaller card with less images then a larger card with 2 weeks of images.
Plus a smaller card encourages me to empty them more frequently, therefore making me want to fill them up again that much more.Honestly I don't know about the D50's max SD size, though I would guess it is 2GB since that is what the high end was when the D50 came out. Maybe a firmware update will fix this, if you are having problems still, but firmwares are rare and mostly for widespread issues that seriously affect the cameras usage.
